Hypnotherapy can help in many different areas from anxiety through to weight control.

Perhaps you feel stressed or anxious. Maybe you’d like to stop smoking, or are just in need of some relaxation.

There are often crossovers in the areas people come to change. During the sessions a client may notice changes and releases with many different feelings or emotions, not just those originally discussed during consultation. For example, quitting smoking may remove anxieties, removing a fear may increase confidence and managing stress may change eating habits.

What to expect

  • You will sit in a comfortable chair or lie on a sofa for your treatment.
  • You’ll remain in control at all times and are able to move freely if you need to.
  • You might hear everything or only part of what is said. Hypnotherapy will work, even if you hear nothing at all or can’t remember any of it.
  • Soothing background music uses subliminal tones to enhance your relaxation during the sessions.
  • Guided imagery and breathing techniques encourage a positive outlook and the adoption of new habits.
  • All you need to do is sit back, let go and enjoy the experience. All therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery.
  • You can expect to feel calm, relaxed, comfortable and safe, even if you normally find it hard to switch off. Hypnotherapy will allow you to rediscover these feelings.
  • From the first session you will soon feel refreshed and start to notice changes taking place.

Initial Consultation

In response to your enquiry, you will be emailed a consultation form and confidentiality agreement. Please read and sign this, then either email it back or bring it with you to the initial consultation which is required before agreeing any sessions.

There is usually a brief phone conversation to discuss your needs, followed by the initial consultation, usually 45-60 minutes long. This stage establishes the necessary details to tailor the therapy to you and gives you time ask any questions.

Once the details have been noted, the consultation may, where appropriate, include a 20-30 minute relaxation session to give you a feel for the therapy and chance to get used to the therapist’s voice.

All information shared will be treated with complete confidentiality.

Going forward

Sessions are usually conducted a week apart to get the best from the process and each lasts about 50-60 minutes.

Treatments are carried out on a session-by-session basis and there is no set number, as each person responds differently.

A weekly review gives the therapist and the client time to reflect on any changes achieved and what point they have reached within their journey.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the reason for the visit, how deep-rooted the issue is and your commitment to implementing the changes.

Reviews conducted along the way will assess how you are feeling and the level of change you are experiencing, to determine future sessions required.

You may be given 'homework' between sessions, which is designed to work alongside the therapy and enhance your participation. This enables you to develop new resources to help yourself in future.

All clients are asked to sign a Participation Agreement to confirm their commitment to change.
